Poster for the patio

John and I worked on the patio this afternoon. We got all the bricks down that we bought at the yard sale. We decided we would buy a few more bricks to make it bigger. I will post a picture when we are all done. We are going to lacquer this poster on a piece of wood and hang it by our little patio. Isn't it pretty!

Tug a war with Angel

I found this trunk at Ross for $32.00. They wanted $40.00 but I talked the manager down. It was originally $200.00. It has a little damage on the top and it needed bigger screws for the hinges. I love it. It has a nice drawer on the bottom. It is real wood. I love bargain shopping.

Step one in our lawn project

This weekend we put in a sprinkler system. Five hours of hard work and it was complete. I took some pictures of John and the kids working. I want you to know I did my share of digging also. I just hate having my picture taken. The next thing we will do is kill the weeds and put in new grass. I am so excited we got so much done this weekend. We also stopped at a garage sale on the way home from church Sunday. We found some red paving brick at the sale for a quarter a piece. John said they usually sell for two dollars each. So we loaded John's truck with them. We are going to build a patio out back. It will be so nice. After all the loading and unloading of the brick we went grocery shopping. John made some sushi. It sure looks pretty. All in all it was a good weekend.

Happy Easter it was!

John got Saturday and Sunday off. It was a real treat. Saturday John, the boys, and I all went to garage sales. Then John took us to Planet Smoothie. He has an addiction to them. I have to admit they are pretty good. After the smoothie we went home and took a three hour nap. Isn't life grand. Then we got up and went to the book store. Instead of candy baskets this year the boys got a few of their favorite candy bars and a book of their choice. We ended the evening with McDonald's.
Sunday was also very pleasant. One funny thing happened in Sunday School. I brought crosses for the children to paint. I told them once they were dry we would write "Jesus Lives" on them. I offered to write it for them. Being four and five year olds they informed me they were more than capable of writing it themselves. So I wrote it on a paper so they could copy it. One of the little boys forgot to put the "v" in lives. I tried not to laugh as I explained to him that he had to fit the v in there somehow. Can you imagine what the parents would think? To funny!
We had no plans for Easter but to just go home after church and BBQ. To our delight Tim and Evelyn had no Easter plans. So they came over. We stuffed ourselves and played Settler's of Cattan.

Sunday afternoon

I love Sunday afternoon.I get in my pjs as soon as we get home from church. It is my absolute favorite time of the week. John and I take a 2-3 hour nap. Then we get up and cook, watch a movie, or something else fun. We are doing taxes today.Yipee! I have to admit though I did have fun trying to distract John while he was working on them. He is such a good sport. I forgot to tell you about Friday. On Friday John took me shopping and bought me a kitchenaid mixer. I have always wanted one. So when John was at work on Sat. the kids and I made ten dozen chocolate chip cookies. It is incredible how much dough can fit in the mixer bowl. I froze a bunch of them. It would be way to much temptation having that many cookies around. When John came home he went to bed early. So I decided to use my mixer more. I made an upside down pineapple cake that was delicious. John is now wondering just how much I am going to bake. At this rate I might actually fatten him up some. I also made salsa in my food processor and a chicken pot pie for dinner. As you can see it is all about the food for me.

The end of car wash fear!

One more thing I did this weekend is get my car washed by one of those automatic car washes. Now to most people this does not sound like a big deal. But to me it is. I had (notice the word had) a fear of them. I was afraid I would not get my tires lined up right. Megan understands. They have made them different than they use to. There is no lining up your car. You just drive in. So with music blasting in celebration my family and I went through the car wash with great joy. John says he wishes he had the camera. He said I looked sooo happy. We are so easily entertained.

My hard working men!

John and I had a great time on Sunday afternoon cooking in the kitchen. We decided we wanted to try to make Chinese food. It turned out great. I had a lot of fun putting the egg rolls together. Since John started cooking though he tells me we need some new equipment. One thing about my husband he does nothing half hearted. He is totally into the cooking thing. He has decided we need more work area. Which means that we may build a rolling butcher block island that will slide into our hallway closet when not in use. This is working out great for me!

A fun day

I am having a hard time typing this post because I have never got tips put on my nails before. I wanted to do something I have never done before. I felt like such a princess having someone tending to my nails. I had to laugh when I was in the nail place. They had this sign that said waxing. One of the things guys could get waxed was their bikini area. I think I may have found the perfect gift for John. Wouldn't he be thrilled with a bikini wax! LOL John is a real guys guy. I told him I took the boys to Bed Bath and Beyond and he immediately felt the need to take the boys in the back yard and chop some wood. Today has been a lot of fun. First I slept in till nine. The boys and I took pizza to John and his workers for lunch. The boys stayed and worked with John. When I called to check on them I asked them how it was going. I think John has cured them of ever wanting to be an electrian. So, while they worked I shop and got pampered. I know I am spoiled. I bought some camo capries John will love and a new shirt. I am all ready to go out. John and I have a hot date tonight. Hopefully he will be home soon.
