Living room pictures

A new look for the living room

Thursday night John watched Joy for me while I went to Walmart. I decided I wanted an accent wall in my living room to go with the butter yellow. I picked a color that was just few shades darker in the yellow tones. I also decided to paint my trunk that I use for a coffee table. When I got to the paint counter there was no one to help me. I asked two Walmart workers for help. They paged someone for the paint department. Nobody came. There was women who was waiting for help too. She picked up the phone at the paint desk and tried to get some help. Five calls later and a manager finally shows up. All of this took 30 minutes. When he arrived he was talking on his cell phone. Boy was my patience being tested. Finally he got off the phone. I told him I needed a quart of each color. They only had the brown I picked in the gallon size. Fortunately for him he only charged me the price of a quart for the gallon. I say fortunately for him because I might have had to hurt him if he didn't give me a good deal.
Friday morning I started painting the wall and I hated the color after all of that. So I used some yellow I had that also looked awful. At this point I was very discouraged. I decided to call John. I jokingly told him he was going to have a brown wall when he got home because I had tried all the colors I had. After the yellow, the other yellow, primer, trying to go back to the original butter yellow, I tried the brown and loved it. It is a very pretty pecan brown.
Saturday John cleaned his shed out. See miracles do occur. I went to the thrift store and found a new mirror for $5.00 to go over my tv.(I glued some shells on it) I also saw a coffee table I liked. I went home to measure my space to see how it would fit. When I went back to buy it ,it was sold. So, I convinced John to make me one. It looks sooo much better than the one in the thrift store and cost us nothing to make because we already had the wood. It has a nice cubby for my lap top, remote controls, and magazines. Kmart had rugs on sale for $10.00 so I bought a new rug to complete the look of the room. I love my new living room!

John has been picking on me about all the painting. He is wondering what is next. I am just keeping myself entertained. I am definitely not a home body. I am counting down the days till the cruise. We leave on the 31st. I'm soo excited.! John has been home for the last two Saturdays and should be home this Saturday. He had been working overtime for six months(10-14 hour days and Saturdays). It is so nice to have him home. We have been total couch potatoes. I am going to work in the yard today. I need to add a few herbs to our herb garden and put a few grass plugs in. The grass is doing very well except for the spot that our dog Angel pees in and a few spots that don't get much sun. I also need to make some banana bread.
I found this light at a yard sale a while back for $4.00 isn't it pretty?

Enjoying Life

Life is starting to get back to normal around here. I am feeling so much better. Yesterday I got to drive the car for the first time since the operation. It was so nice to get out and shop. Today I also went out. We got to spend the day at Evelyn's. The boys had a blast playing with Jonathan. I had a blast beating Evelyn at Phase Ten.
June is a big month for John and I. Both our birthdays and our anniversary is this month. John also gets Fathers Day. Presents all month it's great. John bought me a new surround sound system and a bigger TV. I bought him some DVD's and a real nice knife set. All the gifts are so nice because we can share them. John really gets a kick out of the surround sound and I love that the speakers are smaller than the ones we had before. I can't wait for his knives to arrive in the mail. John said I could use them but the kids can't. Aren't I special.
I have been watching Lost the first season and am really enjoying.
I saved the best news for last. We received the bill for the hospital and needless to say even with insurance there was still a lot we had to pay. I was very upset because John has worked sooo much overtime and what we had saved would all be gone. But, here is the good part. John received a surprise bonus in his pay check that was exactly the amount we owed the hospital. Isn't that awesome. God is so great!

Feeling so much better

It is so nice to be able to sit and feel comfortable again. Thank you so much for all your prayers. I am so thankfull that the doctors ran some extra tests and found out it was my appendix. It was very strange because my symptoms were nothing like appendicitis. Right after the test I was wisked away to surgery. It was such a blessing to have mother here with me.God's timing is perfect. We were still able to go shopping. She pushed me around in the wheel chair. We also went to the spa. Mom got an hour long massage,a pedicure, and facial. I got a facial and pedicure. When I am all better I plan to go back for the massage. My mom said it was heavenly.
Thank you Tricia for posting for me. You are so sweet. Thank you Darla and Darlene for picking my mom up from the airport. Darla, thank you for taking care of my babies so I didn't have to worry about them. Thank you Evelyn for taking my mom back to the airport.

Fun this weekend

John came home around 3:30 on Saturday from work. It was so nice to see him so early. We swam in the pool for a while. Then we went to McDonalds to eat. After that we enjoyed the disney movie Eight Below at the dollar show. Our huskie is just as beautiful as the ones in the movie. It was a very nice afternoon. Today we went to church and then came home and took a nap.
I am getting so excited. My mom will be comming to see us in a week. We are going to have so much fun shopping and hanging out together. I have some things planned for us. If anyone has any suggestions of things we could do please leave a comment.

Exhausted!

We have been doing a lot around the house lately. We worked on our patio out back and we also put an above the ground pool in. The pool was a lot of work because we had to hoe up all the grass and level the ground. Tomorrow we are not doing any work. We are going to play in the pool and barbecue some.

Poster for the patio

John and I worked on the patio this afternoon. We got all the bricks down that we bought at the yard sale. We decided we would buy a few more bricks to make it bigger. I will post a picture when we are all done. We are going to lacquer this poster on a piece of wood and hang it by our little patio. Isn't it pretty!

Tug a war with Angel

I found this trunk at Ross for $32.00. They wanted $40.00 but I talked the manager down. It was originally $200.00. It has a little damage on the top and it needed bigger screws for the hinges. I love it. It has a nice drawer on the bottom. It is real wood. I love bargain shopping.

I can't believe I have two teenagers!

Step one in our lawn project

This weekend we put in a sprinkler system. Five hours of hard work and it was complete. I took some pictures of John and the kids working. I want you to know I did my share of digging also. I just hate having my picture taken. The next thing we will do is kill the weeds and put in new grass. I am so excited we got so much done this weekend. We also stopped at a garage sale on the way home from church Sunday. We found some red paving brick at the sale for a quarter a piece. John said they usually sell for two dollars each. So we loaded John's truck with them. We are going to build a patio out back. It will be so nice. After all the loading and unloading of the brick we went grocery shopping. John made some sushi. It sure looks pretty. All in all it was a good weekend.

Happy Easter it was!

John got Saturday and Sunday off. It was a real treat. Saturday John, the boys, and I all went to garage sales. Then John took us to Planet Smoothie. He has an addiction to them. I have to admit they are pretty good. After the smoothie we went home and took a three hour nap. Isn't life grand. Then we got up and went to the book store. Instead of candy baskets this year the boys got a few of their favorite candy bars and a book of their choice. We ended the evening with McDonald's.
Sunday was also very pleasant. One funny thing happened in Sunday School. I brought crosses for the children to paint. I told them once they were dry we would write "Jesus Lives" on them. I offered to write it for them. Being four and five year olds they informed me they were more than capable of writing it themselves. So I wrote it on a paper so they could copy it. One of the little boys forgot to put the "v" in lives. I tried not to laugh as I explained to him that he had to fit the v in there somehow. Can you imagine what the parents would think? To funny!
We had no plans for Easter but to just go home after church and BBQ. To our delight Tim and Evelyn had no Easter plans. So they came over. We stuffed ourselves and played Settler's of Cattan.

Sunday afternoon

I love Sunday afternoon.I get in my pjs as soon as we get home from church. It is my absolute favorite time of the week. John and I take a 2-3 hour nap. Then we get up and cook, watch a movie, or something else fun. We are doing taxes today.Yipee! I have to admit though I did have fun trying to distract John while he was working on them. He is such a good sport. I forgot to tell you about Friday. On Friday John took me shopping and bought me a kitchenaid mixer. I have always wanted one. So when John was at work on Sat. the kids and I made ten dozen chocolate chip cookies. It is incredible how much dough can fit in the mixer bowl. I froze a bunch of them. It would be way to much temptation having that many cookies around. When John came home he went to bed early. So I decided to use my mixer more. I made an upside down pineapple cake that was delicious. John is now wondering just how much I am going to bake. At this rate I might actually fatten him up some. I also made salsa in my food processor and a chicken pot pie for dinner. As you can see it is all about the food for me.

The end of car wash fear!

One more thing I did this weekend is get my car washed by one of those automatic car washes. Now to most people this does not sound like a big deal. But to me it is. I had (notice the word had) a fear of them. I was afraid I would not get my tires lined up right. Megan understands. They have made them different than they use to. There is no lining up your car. You just drive in. So with music blasting in celebration my family and I went through the car wash with great joy. John says he wishes he had the camera. He said I looked sooo happy. We are so easily entertained.

My hard working men!

John and I had a great time on Sunday afternoon cooking in the kitchen. We decided we wanted to try to make Chinese food. It turned out great. I had a lot of fun putting the egg rolls together. Since John started cooking though he tells me we need some new equipment. One thing about my husband he does nothing half hearted. He is totally into the cooking thing. He has decided we need more work area. Which means that we may build a rolling butcher block island that will slide into our hallway closet when not in use. This is working out great for me!

A fun day

I am having a hard time typing this post because I have never got tips put on my nails before. I wanted to do something I have never done before. I felt like such a princess having someone tending to my nails. I had to laugh when I was in the nail place. They had this sign that said waxing. One of the things guys could get waxed was their bikini area. I think I may have found the perfect gift for John. Wouldn't he be thrilled with a bikini wax! LOL John is a real guys guy. I told him I took the boys to Bed Bath and Beyond and he immediately felt the need to take the boys in the back yard and chop some wood. Today has been a lot of fun. First I slept in till nine. The boys and I took pizza to John and his workers for lunch. The boys stayed and worked with John. When I called to check on them I asked them how it was going. I think John has cured them of ever wanting to be an electrian. So, while they worked I shop and got pampered. I know I am spoiled. I bought some camo capries John will love and a new shirt. I am all ready to go out. John and I have a hot date tonight. Hopefully he will be home soon.
